Forums & Briefings

In March 2016 the HASG Executive agreed to discontinue our termly Forums in favour of sponsoring, in conjunction with the Local Authority, an additional twilight session of the termly Heads briefings, which both Governors and Heads can attend. This gives an opportunity for Heads and Governors to receive that same information together.

These joint briefings have continued to be held since, and we are delighted to announce the date for the next session is Tuesday 21st November 2017.  It will take place between 6pm – 8pm with light refreshments served at 5.30pm at the Beales Hotel, Hatfield (AL10 9NG).  Please feel free to join us.

The briefings have previously been delivered by Marcus Cooper, but as you may be aware Marcus moved on from the Local Authority at the end of the Summer Term.  The Hertfordshire Headteacher Updates are now continuing under the steer of Debra Massey (Headteacher at Howe Dell) for this school year.  We hope you will join us and support Debra in delivering these sessions.

About the Briefings

The briefings provide:

  • A direct information stream from Hertfordshire County Council.
  • A regular update on current DfE and Ofsted initiatives alongside local and national priorities.
  • Important information which is relevant to all schools and academies, regardless of their phase or status.
  • High quality executive summaries of key information, with appropriate follow up materials clearly identified and sign-posted.

The sessions will include the usual standing agenda items on the latest from Hertfordshire, DfE, Ofsted and Safeguarding and HR updates.  Further communication on other topics will be made available in due course.

If you wish to book a place you may do so by emailing Caroline Inglis on

Provisional further dates for your diary:

  • Thursday 8th March 2018,
  • Thursday 21st June 2018.

Both briefings will be held at the Beales Hotel.  Further details will be made available nearer the time.
