Deadline to Nominate for Governor Awards

Only weeks left to nominate for Governors Awards

The closing date for nominations for the Governor Award scheme is 31st May 2022.

To nominate somebody, please click here to fill in the online form.

The HASG would like to take this opportunity to clarify the following (which differs from the original criteria):

  • Nominations can be received from any school/academy in Hertfordshire – we would like to celebrate great governors from all schools
  • School prizes can only be paid to those who are a member of the HASG

Governor’s Update now a Webinar & HASG AGM News

Webinar Briefing & AGM for Governors

A webinar will replace the previously advertised in-person briefing at the Mill Green Golf Club.  This will take place at 5 pm on Tuesday 30th November 2021.   Similarly, the 2021 HASG AGM (see below) will be held virtually at 7 pm on 13th December 2021.

WebinarThis decision has been made because cases of COVID-19 are currently high both nationally and in Hertfordshire and schools have been asked to implement additional measures to reduce the spread of the virus.   With these measures in mind, we consider it appropriate that this term’s Headteacher Updates remains in webinar form.  The programme will include the following updates and items:

  • Hertfordshire perspective
  • Ofsted update
  • Safeguarding update
  • HR update
  • SEND update
  • Virtual School update
  • Technology – what next after Covid

Education – Bridging the Gap – Annual Conference

‘Education – Bridging the Gap’, is the theme for the Annual Governors Conference, bookings open on Monday 16th November.

Herts for Learning (HfL) and Hertfordshire Association of School Governors (HASG) are delighted to confirm the rescheduled governor conference will be delivered digitally in spring 2021.

We took the decision to postpone the November 2020 date and reschedule for March 2021 in the hope ‘normal service will be resumed’.  However, as we remain in an uncertain period, HfL and HASG have taken the decision to run the conference digitally, but over the week! HASG AGM 2020 – Tuesday 8th December

The HASG AGM 2020, which would normally take place at the Herts Governors Annual Conference in November, is going virtual.

This year the conference has been postponed to March 2021. Our constitution requires our AGM to be held in the Autumn Term. Governor Updates 2020/21 Dates Announced

Diary datesDates for 2020/21 Headteacher & Governor Updates

As we continue to be in uncertain times, we have 3 dates, two of which are taking an optimistic view that larger group meetings might be possible by spring.  These update dates are:

  • Autumn 2020
    Monday 30 November – 2 x webinars with an evening one at 5 pm for governors.  Register online here.
    Agenda items to include:

    • Hertfordshire perspective,
    • HR updates,
    • Safeguarding updates.
  • Spring 2021
    Wednesday 17 March – Hatfield (Governors), and
  • Summer 2021
    Thursday 17 June – Hatfield (Governors).

Annual Conference Postponed

Herts for LearningHASG/HfL Hertfordshire Governors’ Annual Conference Postponed

The Executive Committee of the Hertfordshire Association of School Governors (HASG) together with the Governance Planning Team of HfL have decided that the conference planned for Saturday 7th November 2020 will be postponed until Spring 2021.

The continuing uncertainty surrounding the development of the Covid-19 pandemic and the probable inadvisability of a meeting of up to 300 delegates in November this year has led us to decide now that, in the interests of safety for all participants, there was no alternative to this postponement.
