Annual Governors’ Conference 2019

The Hertfordshire Annual Governor’s Conference 2019 will take place on Saturday 16th November 2019, from 9:00 am (registration from 8:15 am), to 15:30 pm.  It will be held at the Hertfordshire Development Centre, Stevenage, Robertson House, Six Hills Way.

This year’s conference will focus on the governors’ understanding of the curriculum. The day will allow delegates to listen to two keynote speakers, attend up to three seminars as well as providing a chance to meet with governors’ from a wide range of settings, providing excellent networking opportunities.

Prof. Mick WatersKeynote Speaker #1

The first keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Mick Waters who will speak on the governors’ role in curriculum effectiveness. As an education consultant, Mick works with authorities across the UK on innovative approaches to learning. Mick has worked at the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority as Director of Curriculum, taken a leading role in helping schools to rethink their approach to curriculum design and influenced national policy on aspects of the national curriculum.

Rachel MacfarlaneKeynote Speaker #2

Closing the conference, Rachel Macfarlane will be highlighting the role of governors in growing great schools. Rachel joined the HfL Executive team as Director of Education Services in April 2018; she brought a wealth of experience from an extensive and varied career in education. As Director of Education Services, Rachel is the strategic lead for all HfL’s education services to schools across all phases.

Seminars

There will be a wide range of seminars to choose tailored specifically around the curriculum and covering all phases. Delegates will receive an email asking them to pre-select their seminar choices once they have registered.

Please note the conference will begin at 9:00 am in the Oak Room, refreshments will be available from 8:15 am.
